Anticipating :: School Holidays!!! The Winter break is probably my favourite in terms of relaxation – sure summer holidays are long and relaxing too but the cold weather gives us permission to have jammie days where we don’t have to leave the house for anything! This holidays, I’m going to make us all some new flannelette jammie pants just so we have to lounge around and wear them! (Four pairs of Anna Maria Horner Flannel and a pair for the Mr in a cotton plaid from ModernQuiltStudio).

Celebrating :: participants in my classes who give themselves over to the process and place their trust in me to help them free up their creativity.

Wishing :: I’d taken photos of their efforts!

Procrasticraft-15-06-23-05Thanking :: a gorgeous, kind and generous friend and her equally lovely family for hosting me. Their hospitality has been such a gift. Also for organising drinks with the outrageous Vee! Such fun hanging out with those two over the weekend – although some topics of conversation have left mental imprints I could do without!

Procrasticraft-15-06-23-06Sewing :: with the smallest of my smalls, those little hands kill me with the cuteness! She’s only three but she loves nothing more than sitting on my lap and guiding fabric under the needle.

Eating :: Brisket – I change the recipe around each time I cook it as not all the ingredients are readily available here and I’m not very good at following recipes (a bit like sewing patterns, or any instructions really) but oh my this is sooooooo good!

Reading :: aside from the airplane magazine… nothing at all… must remedy that, I need a good novel recommendation???

If you want to play along with #thisweekiam, you can link up your blog post or Instagram pic here, no rules, just share something you’ve been doing this past week (and it would be nice to click on the link before you and visit their site – you never know who you might meet!):

Preparing :: to teach a new class starting tomorrow night!

Anticipating :: a road trip with Heidi to Sydney for classes with Bill Kerr (yes, of Weeks and Bill and Modern Quilt Studio fame!!!). Bill has a reputation as an excellent teacher so I am really looking forward to the classes (and I have to admit, also to the weekend in a hotel – no cooking or cleaning. And a bath! We don’t have a bath and a friend recently reminded me that they exist in the world – now I can’t get that idea of luxury out of my mind!).

Enjoying :: students sharing the progress they are making on quilts from my classes!

Eating :: meals from my meal plan which this week includes my take on Spanish eggs (In a large deep sided fry pan, sauté a sliced onion and sliced red capsicum, add diced chorizo, cook for about 5-10 minutes until the onion and capsicum are soft and the chorizo is browned. Add a tin of chickpeas and some par-boiled diced potatoes along with a tin of tomatoes and a tin of water. Cover with lid and simmer until the potatoes are cooked through. Make six wells in the mix and crack an egg into each well, cover with lid and simmer until eggs are cooked. Stir through a few handfuls of baby spinach and half a bunch of chopped parsley, serve with a fresh crusty sourdough).

Also eating :: anything anyone else would like to cook for me!

Reading :: Julia. And the Wife Drought – in which I realise just how much I need a wife!

Listening :: to podcasts, specifically Chat10Looks3 (with Annabel Crabb and Leigh Sales) and  The Crafty Planner (with Sandi and a whole lot of crafty guests! Thanks Chawne for the referral to this one).

Admiring :: the creativity of friends

Starting :: a little linky party -#thisweekiam. Thanks to Cheryl who inspires me to commit to writing more regularly! All you need to do is link up a blog post from this week here so we can see what you have been doing – any post, any topic, just something that shares what you’ve been doing the past week. The only rule is that you click on the blog that linked up before you go see what they’ve been up to, who knows who you might meet :)

Right now I am…

This post should probably be titled “This month I am” given it has been over a month since I have posted here. However, as I can manage only what is in front of me right now, let’s start with that.

Enjoying :: the glorious Autumn weather Canberra gives us. Crisp mornings, sunny days, clear blue skies and fireside evenings.

Loving :: my children and my husband. As corny as it is, Mr Procrasticraft and the three smalls are what this life is all about.

Appreciating :: my friends. Those who are physically present in my life, those in the interwebs and those who are no longer with me. I am grateful everyday that I have such supportive, intelligent, generous, creative and funny people along for the ride on this crazy journey that is my life.

Sharing :: my language and my love of food with a new Spanish friend. She is sharing her language and her love of food with me. If you ever have the chance to trade language and cooking lessons with someone new to your country, take it! Learning a language through cooking each other’s food, hello!

Making :: class samples – I am going to teach some quilting classes using modern designs and improv techniques – I couldn’t be more thrilled. The design and making aspect of this is fabulous, writing the patterns, not so much. Do you write patterns? Any tips?

Working :: for the first time in a while – since the last baby actually. I’ve set up my own small business working as a virtual assistant and through that, I get to spend a whole day of each week in a fabric store!!!  SO. MUCH. FUN!!!

And finally, tonight I am remembering :: right now, it feels so appropriate to be in this space, one which I was encouraged to enter by my dear sweet friend Kathreen. You see, today it has been one year since she and her gorgeous hubby lost their lives. One whole year since I heard her voice. So right now I am missing and I am thanking. Missing my friend so very much and thanking every being possible that I was lucky enough to have had her as my friend at all. I’m thanking her for encouraging me to follow my dreams. Thanking her for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. Thanking her for inspiring me to live a more creative life. Thanking her for being her and for showing me how to be me.

Miss you Kathreen. And thank you dear friend.
